Ah ha! Now I have the sniff of a real protest. Just as I was bemoaning the fact that my list didn't coincide with the Beijing Olympics (I could have made a grab for that torch) I happened to overhear another school run Mum complaining that we do not have a zebra crossing outside our school. My ears pricked up and she was astonished to discover how fascinated, and outraged, I was by this fact.
We are, apparently, the only primary school in the authority not to have one! We do have a lollipop man, but we have to go out of our way to cross there (something no year 6 child walking to school on their own is going to bother with) and his hours do not cover morning nursery children leaving school and after school clubs.
We're thinking; children dressed in black and white (perhaps not exactly lying on the road) banners, posters, local paper.......... Hmmm now where can I borrow a zebra?
