I was having dinner with Anna last week when something she said made me realize that there is something missing from my list! I have never slept on a train, and I want to! Now, obviously I have slept on a train in terms of catching a head lolling, drooling nap usually on my way back from Bristol and a weekend of much wine and little sleep with Helen and Mike, but I want a little bunk bed, and tea and toast delivered to my door.
So, as it is my list and I feel fully entitled to change the rules, I am going to add it to the list! But, as 41 before 40 is not nearly so catchy, something has to go! Hmmmm, now the temptation is of course to lose something hard like riding a bike!!! But alas I fear that one must remain, like a 2 wheeled sword of Damacles. However I think that if I go to a literary festival I cannot fail to catch an author talk, henceforth number 7 (attend an author talk) becomes to travel on a sleeper train.
Now, who do I know in Edinburgh.....

I love sleeping on trains and have done so many times in India. A friend of mine went to Aviemore on a sleeper recently but this may be too far. What's the shortest sleeper you can do? It's got to be a decent distance otherwise it's not worth sleeping. Will watch this space.
Some of the scotland ones pull into the sidings for added sleep time I hear tell!
I have had an invitation to Basal but that would involve renewing my passport first.
Busy, busy, busy!
