Number 4 - TICK (and how)

Lordy but my list is such fun! Last night Janie and I had a hot date at the Shepherds Bush Empire with Billy Bragg! AAAAAHHHHH
(Sorry - still way over excited)

It was quite exciting just to be heading off to my old stomping ground but they have tried to civilize or God Forbid even glamorize The Bush and I felt quite disorientated stepping out of the train station and coming face to face with the monument to consumerism that is the W12 SHOPPING MALL. It's very shiny!

Anyway I digress we went to the pub next door to the empire for a quick beer where I managed to convince Janie that we really did need to go in as soon as the doors opened at 7pm. Now I know that this really is not cool, I know that even the support band wouldn't start until 8pm, but I also knew that I wanted to be close...... this close...

(taken on my iphone - NO zoom!)

And he was fantastic! The Bard of Barking is a Legend! He played for 2 hours (following an hour of the genial Otis The Hobbit) and we sang along with wild abandon (at least I did so am assuming I wasn't alone) LOTS of politics, some old favourites (shirley, sexuality, Milkman of human Kindness) and the obligatory New England. We were even given a 'Christmas Present' in the shape of 'Badly Drawn Boy' who came on to strum through 'Walk Away Renee'

Being at a gig surrounded by complete strangers with whom you can only be sure you have 1 thing in common is GREAT! I loved every minute, the anticipation, the buzzing in your ears, the plastic cups and floor sticky with beer, the feeling of flying home and spending the entire next day singing the songs over and over and over.

Altogether now..... "I don't want to change the world........."

And what a legend he was too.
We were so close to him we could smell his hair product and see the steam coming off from his tea!
A pleasure to help with the ticking of this one - who shall we see next??!!
