Number 17 - Can almost smell the tick

I have been reading loads and am not sure I can even remember them all. EEK, so thought (as I have reports to write) I might just jot down the ones I can remember;

Charming - far from being 'To Kill A Mockingbird' which I think on some levels it aspires to be, but a good well crafted thoughtful read.

Stayed up sitting on the stairs outside my bedroom to finish it. Always a good sign, but bet I will have forgotten it by the time I'm 40 :-)

An extraordinary woman, words fail me. But, is she a Mummy or a carer? With her forthright manner and mind blowing honesty she can say of one of her children 'If I had my time again, I wouldn't have adopted.......' I can't imagine a Mum saying that about any one of her challenging children. But take nothing away from Alex, she is formidable and courageous and amazing!

Loved this; lyrical, thought provoking, gentle. Well written with moments of insight on the nature of marriage and indeed war. Surprises along the way which make you reevaluate your preconceived ideas of the characters and the situations in which they find themselves.

I think that makes it 4 to go...
